A pair of traveling memorials symbolizing the wartime sacrifices of two generations will be on display through this weekend at Woodbridge Community Park.
Listed on the latter memorial is Army 2nd Lt. Mark J. Daily, an Irvine resident who was killed in Iraq in 2007. Daily, who attended Stonecreek Elementary School, Lakeside Middle School and Woodbridge High School before earning a degree in political science from UCLA, continued to add to the national dialog through a thoughtful and widely shared essay that summarized his convictions and decision to serve.
We’re told the City of Irvine worked with Vietnam Veterans of America and Visions2Victory to bring the two memorials together in Irvine. Organizers say the joint monuments represent a unique educational opportunity for IUSD students and their families.
Supervised by volunteers, the memorials will remain open for public viewing all day and night through, Thursday, July 18, through Sunday, July 21. The park is located at 20 Lake Road. For more information on scheduled events, click here.
