Celebrating National School Counseling Week

National School Counseling Week

IUSD is celebrating and highlighting the important work of our school counselors, as part of National School Counseling Week. Thank you for your leadership, dedication and support for our students. You truly make a positive impact within IUSD and beyond!

National School Counseling Week, which is themed "School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive," is from Feb. 3-7 and focuses public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within school systems. It is an opportunity to highlight the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. In recognition of this important week, the IUSD Board of Education has issued a proclamation honoring the invaluable role school counselors play in supporting students’ academic and personal growth.

The mission of IUSD School Counselors, grades 7-12, is to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, social/emotional, and college and career development of all students, following the model of the American School Counselor Association and the California Association of School Counselors.

School Counselors work in partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and community partners resources to support all students. By working together, our counselors help ensure that all students develop the knowledge and skills needed to reach their full potential, by becoming lifelong learners and responsible, and engaged members of the community.
