IUSD is pleased to announce that Dr. Mandy Ferrell has been named as the new Principal of Oak Creek Elementary School. Dr. Ferrell is well known to the staff, students, and community as she currently serves as assistant principal. She was selected from a talented candidate pool in a competitive selection process that included input and participation from the Oak Creek staff and community. Mandy will work with Mr. Grasso to ensure a smooth transition in leadership and will officially start as principal on July 1.
Dr. Ferrell has been a site leader at Oak Creek for the past four years as an assistant principal and teacher on special assignment. She has worked at Oak Creek as a classroom teacher in primary and upper grades for twelve years, and was one of the founding teachers there.
Dr. Ferrell is student-centered in her approach and is familiar with the community’s culture of excellence. Like the Oak Creek staff, she is an advocate of continuous improvement and forward thinking, and is committed to ensuring that all students learn to their maximum potential through innovation and collaboration.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the Oak Creek community in this new role as we work together to build a strong foundation for our W.I.S.E. Owls,” said Dr. Ferrell.”
She lives in Mission Viejo with her husband Dave, and their two children, Kyan and Hannah. In addition to the busy life of a young family, they enjoy attending sporting events and vacationing in Lake Tahoe.
Please join IUSD in congratulating Dr. Ferrell upon her selection as the Principal at Oak Creek.
