IUSD Elementary Schools kicked off the first week of March with a focus on literacy, by participating in Read Across America Day. Each year, District schools invite special guests to read their favorite children’s books to celebrate this important day. Established by the National Education Association, Read Across America Day is an annual literacy campaign that seeks to encourage and motivate students to be successful readers.
IUSD guest readers included:

This year, IUSD also invited special guests from the City of Irvine to join the celebration. City guest readers included:
- Mayor Donald Wagner
- Irvine Councilmember Farrah Khan
- Irvine Councilmember Anthony Kuo
- Irvine Community Services Commissioner Lauren Johnson-Norris
