The Irvine Unified School District’s Special Education Department and Community Advisory Committee are hosting a free Abilities Awareness Event!

Wednesday, April 24 at Woodbridge High School - Music Quad 2 Meadowbrook Irvine, CA 5-7:30 p.m. |
Designed to celebrate, connect, and inform our community, this event is free and open to the public. The festivities will include, music, performances, an art gallery, fun activities and local resources that support inclusive practices in Irvine. Food will be available for purchase via food trucks.
Caley Versfelt, founder of Tides of Kindness, will also be the distinguished keynote speaker. Caley is an advocate and motivational speaker for acceptance, diversity, and inclusion. She created Tides of Kindness, an apparel store, to help highlight how each person should be valued and to bring joy to all who see the clothing.
“This event is a celebration of each individual's unique strengths and talents in our District. It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together, learn from one another, and appreciate the diverse abilities that make our school communities truly special,” stated Melanie Hertig, Special Education Executive Director.
Leading up to the event, many IUSD schools will also participate in site-based events promoting disability allyship during April and March.
