October 16-20 is Digital Citizenship Week, which is an opportunity to remind our community about the importance of good digital citizenship. The following are some tips to keep in mind.
- Think before you post
- Follow our school acceptable use guidelines
- Remember that anything posted online is permanent
- Communicate respectfully
- Use digital tools to talk with people, not about them
- Stand up to cyberbullying
- Give proper credit when using other people’s work
- Protect your private information
- Learn to differentiate between what’s real and what’s fake and know the source of information
- Report poor behavior, including cyber bullying to a trusted adult or use IUSD’s Say Something Anonymous Reporting System.
Families can learn more about supporting good digital citizenship by visiting Common Sense Media. Click here to learn more about K-12 digital citizenship in IUSD. Included in this resource is a digital citizenship presentation for parents.
