The Assistance League of Irvine has announced that its annual Operation School Bell program will kick off on Aug. 22.
Operation School Bell is a free, confidential community service that offers school clothes and other necessities to the children of low-income families, specifically Irvine students in kindergarten through age 15. The program has served more than 7,000 students in the Irvine Unified School District since it started in June 1990. This year, from August through November, the Assistance League will offer gift cards to purchase shoes and clothes at local stores, as well as school supplies and a personal hygiene kit. Applications will be available at school offices within the district. Once submitted, an Assistance League volunteer will respond within 20 days. For more information, visit the
Assistance League of Irvine’s website. Or click here to email the Operation School Bell coordinator.
