Some special guests dropped by more than a dozen elementary schools on March 1 to read their favorite children's books in honor of Read Across America Day. Established by the National Education Association, Read Across America is an annual literacy campaign that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, who is better known as Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss's birthday happened to fall on a Saturday this year, so IUSD schools participated a day earlier. Guest readers, as pictured below, included Irvine Mayor Steven Choi, IUSD Superintendent Terry Walker and Secondary Education Director Keith Tuominen.
