Young athletes in grades four through eight are encouraged to sign up for the 25th annual Irvine Junior Games, which will be held on Sunday, May 20 at Irvine Stadium.
The long-running track and field competition is comprised of a number of activities including distance running, sprints, relays and field events, such as the standing long jump, the basketball shoot and the soccer kick. The entrance fee is $25 per athlete, and students can register at
www.irvinejuniorgames.com. The Irvine Junior Games was established in 1986 both as a fundraiser for the Irvine Children's Fund as well as a platform to encourage elementary-age kids to embrace health and athletics. Each year, more than 1,500 IUSD students participate in the event.
