This edition of Good News Around the District showcases IUSD’s wonderful teachers and staff, Mental Health Awareness Week, amazing moms, student honors, virtual activities and events, video highlights and more!

In addition to sharing happenings from around the District, this edition of IUSD’s Good News Around the District highlights Arts IUSD and our talented students.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8 and recognizes our teachers and certificated staff for their dedication, talent, resiliency, adaptability and compassion.  The USD Board of Education and Superintendent Walker have recorded a special video message to express the District's gratitude.  

Last week IUSD students and schools celebrated Earth Day, Read a Book to a Pet Day and World Book Day, while continuing distance learning, engaging in school spirit activities, and sharing important resources and information.

U.S. News & World Report released its latest ranking of the country's "Best High Schools."  IUSD is the only Orange County school district to have three high schools in the California top 100 ranking.   

This week's Good News Around the District features distance learning, creative activities, ideas for exercise at home, messages of hope and encouragement, important reminders, services and supports, and virtual activities that range from performances to school counseling meetings and everything in between.

Four IUSD high school seniors were named Edison Scholars and awarded $40,000 each from Southern California Edison to pursue their dreams in science, technology, engineering or math.

Yesterday on Tuesday, March 10, IUSD students from Creekside, Irvine, Portola, University and Woodbridge high schools traveled to Sacramento to discuss issues impacting education with state legislators and other influential policy makers. Today, IUSD also announced the four 2019-20 Teachers of Promise given to first- or second-year instructors, who go above and beyond, while demonstrating professional curiosity and an unbridled enthusiasm for teaching.
