IPSF to recognize four distinguished graduates at second annual Spirit of Excellence Gala
The Irvine Public Schools Foundation has announced the names of four IUSD alumni set to be honored at the second annual IPSF Spirit of Excellence Gala in October. The recipients, in their respective categories, are: Excellence in Arts: Oren Jacob, a University High School graduate, is a lead animator for Pixar Animation Studios. Excellence in Music: Eric Anderson, from Irvine High School’s class of 1990, is a character actor and musician. Excellence in Science: Allen Adham, another Uni High grad, co-founded Blizzard Entertainment, a successful video game developer. Excellence in Athletics: Jason Lezak, a member of Irvine High’s class of 1994, is a champion swimmer and Olympic gold-medalist. This year’s distinguished alums were announced May 12 at the inaugural IPSF Golf Tournament at Strawberry Farms. More than 140 golfers and 60 additional guests attended the tournament, which was held in recognition of the foundation’s generous Legacy Partners. “We’re delighted to announce our four honorees for 2011 on the heels of a highly successful and well attended golf tournament,” said Neda Zaengle, IPSF’s chief executive. “Irvine and IUSD have much to celebrate in honoring the achievements of these worthy and talented alumni.” The second annual IPSF Spirit of Excellence Gala is scheduled to take place on Oct. 22 at the headquarters of Kia Motors America. Last year’s gala, also held at Kia, drew about 400 guests and raised more than $200,000 for Irvine schools.
