Irvine High School's three teams, totaling 15 students, secured spots in the National Finals of the Air & Space Force Association’s StellarXplorers Space STEM program.
The competition started in October with 300 teams and included four online rounds.
The finals of the competition are scheduled to take place in Denver, Colorado, in April. The teams from Irvine High School will face off against others from across the country, including schools from Oklahoma, Maryland and Arizona. Their skills in orbit planning, satellite design and launch vehicle selection will be evaluated in their pursuit of the National Champions title.
The 10 finalist teams will present their solutions to a panel of industry experts, with winners announced at an awards banquet on April 20. The top three teams will receive scholarships to support their STEM education and career goals.
The competition is supported by various organizations including Air & Space STEM Outreach, Lockheed Martin, Nova Space, United Launch Alliance and receives educational support from Ansys. StellarXplorers aims to encourage interest in space exploration and STEM fields among students.
Congratulations to Irvine High School on this incredible achievement and best of luck in the finals!
