This year's
elementary, middle and high school Teachers of the Year were deservedly receiving kudos after Thursday's big announcements, but they weren’t the only ones being hailed. Four "Teachers of Promise" were also revealed by IUSD, the Irvine Teachers Association and the Exchange Club. This honor annually goes to a handful of first- or second-year educators who have gone above and beyond while demonstrating professional curiosity and a passion for teaching. The 2011-12 Teachers of Promise, as pictured above, are Katherine Levensailor, a science teacher at University High School; Mackenzie Miklas, an education specialist from Greentree Elementary School; Anna Berger, a special ed teacher at South Lake Middle School; and Bailey Marks, who teaches second-graders at Deerfield Elementary School. Levensailor was recognized in front of her fellow staff members at Uni, while the other three were surprised with the good news in their classrooms. Once again, congratulations to this year’s Teachers of the Year and Teachers of Promise. We'll see you at the 26th annual Excellence in Teaching Awards Dinner in May.
