Irvine’s next high school is on track to open with an inaugural class of ninth-graders in August 2016. But first things first: The school needs a name, and you can help.

Irvine’s newest comprehensive high school is on track to open in 2016, necessitating some adjustments to IUSD’s existing high school boundaries.

Five IUSD high schoolers have been selected to perform at the venerable Grand Ole Opry in Nashville as members of the 2014 National Association for Music Education All-National Honor Ensembles.

Here we are, a third of the way through June, and that means high school graduation season is upon us.

Woodbridge High Vocal Music Director Rob Blaney has been named a quarterfinalist for the prestigious Music Educator Award presented annually by The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation.

Proposed changes to IUSD’s high school boundaries will be the subject of a special Board of Education Study Session on Tuesday, May 27. The meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the IUSD District Office, located at 5050 Barranca Parkway.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any incriminating photos from Irvine High School’s first-ever “Dancing with the Staff” competition. But we do have these rehearsal shots, courtesy of student-journalist Jenny Seo.
