Four Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) students were named among Thermo Fisher Scientific’s top junior innovators, the most from any district in Orange County.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced that 245 Orange County students have been named semifinalists, 89 of which are IUSD students.
This program awards each winner with a scholarship between $500 to $2,500 and is given to students who demonstrate academic promise and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
Three IUSD students earned top honors and fifteen others showcased their projects at the 2024 National History Day national competition.

By capturing the state title, the team added to their impressive collection of 15 CIF SoCal championships, nine Ojai team championships, and four All-American tournament titles.
Over 700 IUSD seniors have been awarded the State Seal of Biliteracy across 9 languages. Twenty IUSD seniors also will receive two seals for demonstrating their triliteracy.
