The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) is committed to keeping families informed and engaged. To assist with this, we use ParentSquare, a comprehensive communications platform that allows our school and the District to send important updates, alerts and information directly to our families.

IUSD is launching the Early College Program for incoming 9th-grade students starting the 2025-26 school year. Courses are UC/CSU transferable and can lead to IGETC Certification or even an associate’s degree with additional units.

Two Northwood High School juniors, Kamron Jamali and Kathleen Shumate, were selected as California State Thespian Officers.

Bonita Canyon Elementary School, Eastshore Elementary School, Portola Springs Elementary School and Plaza Vista School have been named 2025 California Distinguished Schools. This designation is the state’s top honor for schools. 

IUSD hosted its annual 21st Century Career Conference at UC Irvine's Beckman Center, giving nearly 400 middle schoolers a chance to explore STEM careers.
The California Council for the Social Studies has recognized Jon Resendez, a history teacher at Portola High School, as this year's Outstanding High School Teacher of the Year.
