The Irvine Unified School District will celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the Class of 2020 in a variety of ways that also honors their personal sacrifices for the greater public good.

Last week there was a lot of Good News Around the District. Students were honored for their achievements, our schools made videos that really moved us, and teachers, staff and families continued to find ways to connect and engage, while prioritizing mental health, kindness and gratitude.
As part of Earth Day last month, IUSD’s Sustainability team held a poster contest asking students to create an original work of art on a poster demonstrating the theme of “Climate Action” or actions that fight climate change. Students showcased the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling through their artistic educational posters.
This edition of Good News Around the District showcases IUSD’s wonderful teachers and staff, Mental Health Awareness Week, amazing moms, student honors, virtual activities and events, video highlights and more!
In addition to sharing happenings from around the District, this edition of IUSD’s Good News Around the District highlights Arts IUSD and our talented students.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8 and recognizes our teachers and certificated staff for their dedication, talent, resiliency, adaptability and compassion.  The USD Board of Education and Superintendent Walker have recorded a special video message to express the District's gratitude.
During an April 28 press briefing, Governor Newsom discussed the possibility of schools reopening for the 2020-21 school year starting this summer. On April 29, State Superintendent Tony Thurmond issued a statement about his intent to explore this possibility with state and national leaders.
This week’s Weekly Five is focused on connecting IUSD families to resources and services, including meals, technology, mental health and wellness supports, long-term food and housing assistance, academic enrichment resources, and tips for staying connected.
Each year, IUSD teachers, classified staff and administrators work together to develop school calendars for the years ahead, for both traditional and year-round schools.  IUSD would like feedback from our community before we finalize these calendars for the next two academic school years.
Last week IUSD students and schools celebrated Earth Day, Read a Book to a Pet Day and World Book Day, while continuing distance learning, engaging in school spirit activities, and sharing important resources and information.
