The Orange County Health Care Agency announced that although county coronavirus rates continue to drop, the California Department of Public Health has moved the September 8 start date so that OC schools could be in a position to reopen for in-person instruction starting September 22, as long as the downward trend in coronavirus rates continues.

 Orange County has been removed from the California Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 monitoring list, creating a path for OC school districts, including IUSD, to open for in-person instruction for families who selected hybrid or traditional academic models.  Read this article for IUSD planning and next steps.

IUSD’s Nutrition Services is serving daily grab-and-go meals at all school sites. Meals are available for purchase or as part of the free and reduced meal program for students who qualify. Please see this article for more information, including meal pick-ups and community resources.

IUSD schools will communicate detailed information about Chromebook pickups directly with families.  Chromebooks will be checked out from students’ neighborhood/assigned schools, including students who are enrolled in the IUSD Virtual Academy.

This latest module, Restart Forward Progress, emphasizes that being grateful is a choice, a prevailing attitude that provides a perspective from which we can prevent being overwhelmed by circumstances around us or beyond our control.

The fifth module, in the six-part Optimistic Household series, is now available. This latest module, Uncovering Possibilities with a Growth Mindset, provides tools and activities to help families utilize a growth mindset to cope with life’s challenges.

Now that academic model selections are closed, schools will begin scheduling for the fall, including allocation of staff and resources to meet the needs of our students and families.
